Good news, Big Brother Hive: the beloved reality competition series is officially making its way back to our screens for another season. As one of the longest-running reality TV shows out there, BB has become a blueprint for many others that followed, and because of its ongoing success, its upcoming 28th season is returning to its roots.
Not only is the show’s longtime host, Julie Chen Moonves, set to return for all the fun—she also teased that a bunch of shakeups will make things more interesting when new episodes (and live feeds!) drop this summer. Here’s everything you need to know about Big Brother season 28, from its release date to potential cast members.
When does Big Brother 28 premiere?
Luckily, we don’t have to wait much longer for BB28 to hit our screens. According to an official announcement from CBS, season 28 of the fan-fave series will kick off with a special 90-minute premiere on Thursday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET.
When do new episodes of Big Brother 28 come out?
Big Brother isn’t for the faint of heart, since it drops multiple episodes every single week. Once the season kicks off on July 9, new episodes will air on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
Every episode is set to hit CBS and will be available for streaming on Paramount+ the next day.
What is the theme for BB28?
The Big Brother house tends to follow a theme every year, and BB28’s theme is Time Trip. According to CBS, the theme will invite Houseguests to “enter a world where rooms, relics and competitions transport them across moments in time, while early twists shake up the game from the start.”
The network also teased that the theme, which is inspired by different decades like the ’80s and 2000s, will invoke “new powers and challenges [that] can disrupt strategy and alliances.”
Julie seemingly confirmed to Parade, “Time travel, that could go forward or backwards, and that will play into some of the competitions. Does that mean we’re going to bring back some competitions you haven’t seen since Season 2, 3, 4, 5? I sure hope so.”
Plus, the house is obviously full of nods to the theme, including a Living Room of Eras, a Futuristic Sleep Pods Room, a Time Lapse Gym, and more!
When are the Big Brother 28 evictions?
Evictions happen once a week and are broadcast live during Thursday’s episodes.
Where can I watch the BB28 live feeds?
One thing about Big Brother? Aside from the three episodes that air every week, the show also shows 24/7 live feeds because, well, Big Brother is always watching. The feeds will likely stream on Paramount+, just like last season. There’s a quad view that lets you watch every feed at the same time, or you can opt for one of four different camera views.
Who is competing in Big Brother 28?
On July 7, the 14 new Housemates were introduced, including an MMA fighter, a rocket scientist, and a Drag Race All-Star, among others.
But is this the full cast? That’s the $64,000 $750,000 question! The Sun previously reported that CBS execs are “actively planning to bring back a mix of veteran players alongside brand-new contestants for the first time in over six years” for this season, so perhaps there are more Housemates to be revealed.
“They want people who already know how to play hard, make big moves, stir drama and create moments fans actually remember,” The Sun’s insider shared, adding, “They don’t necessarily want an easy, universally-loved cast. They want personalities that get people talking online too.”
Several former Housemates are rumored to return, including Angela Murray, Tucker Des Lauriers, Derek Xiao, Morgan Pope, Keanu Soto, and Danielle Reyes (who you may also recognize from The Traitors season 3!). Of course, no alums have been announced as part of BB28 (yet, anyway!), so take it all with a grain of salt.
