Telemundo, the home of reality shows, today announced Lupillo Rivera as the first personality set to join the much anticipated new season of La Casa de los Famosos slated to premiere live on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The iconic regional Mexican music singer and songwriter, who received the news from La Jefa while eating at a restaurant in Los Angeles, accepted the biggest challenge of his life to isolate himself under the same roof without privacy along with other celebrities who will soon be announced.

With a prolific career that spans a decade, and countless awards and international recognitions, Lupillo Rivera is one of the most distinguished personalities in the regional Mexican music industry. Born in La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Rosa Amelia Saavedra and Pedro Rivera, and brother of the late Jenni Rivera, he moved to California with his family when he was a child. Whilethere, his father founded a small record company where he began his music career. Since then, he has stood out as a popular singer who conquered the Mexican music genre. In 2002, he became the first Mexican artist to sell out the Los Angeles’ Universal Amphitheatre (later known as Gibson Amphitheatre) where he performed his hits accompanied by banda, norteño groups and mariachis. In 2009, he won the Grammy in the category of best band album for Esclavo y Amo. Rivera has also shined as an actor since his debut in 2003 with rolesin productions such as Libre para Amarte and Amores con Trampa, among others. In 2021, he was part of Telemundo’s hit series, La Suerte de Loli, with a special participation. In 2019, he served as coach of the singing competition, La Voz México (The Voice Mexico).
