A new season of a true crime docuseries executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt is set to explore cases in which investigators focused on the victim’s friends.
Season 2 of A Killer Among Friends is set to premiere July 20 at 9 p.m. Eastern on ID and HBO Max.
The series is narrated by the I Know What You Did Last Summer star and will delve into “how a single devastating crime can tear apart the once strong bonds of a close-knit friend group, while exposing deadly secrets lurking in plain sight,” according to a press release from ID.

A trailer shared exclusively with PEOPLE teases the six cases that will be featured in season two.
The first episode, “Secret Life of a Private Eye,” focuses on a woman in Florida who vanished, and what caused investigators to turn their eyes toward a member of her inner circle.
A subsequent episode, “Strike to Kill,” which premieres on July 27, covers the disappearance of an Auburn graduate student.

“As investigators chase leads and rumors spread, distrust grows until new evidence reveals a chilling truth about someone close to her,” the episode’s logline reads.
Other cases covered in season two include one about a woman whose theater group was upended following her murder and another about a North Carolina teenager whose friends become the focus of an investigation.
The season premiere of A Killer Among Friends, “Secret Life of a Private Eye,” airs Monday, July 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ID and will stream on HBO Max.
