Demanding formats like La casa de los famosos, which Telemundo airs at 7 pm ET, require a complex production machine that is constantly in motion to ensure everything runs efficiently from beginning to end. At the heart of this operation is Julia Tradd , VP of Physical Production at EndemolShine Boomdog, the production company behind other highly successful formats such as Masterchef Celebrity , ¿Quién es la máscara?, Me caigo de risa , and the series Agua para chocolate .

For those unfamiliar with this role, what does being VP of Physical Production at EndemolShine Boomdog entail?

Being VP of Physical Production means being the bridge between the creative vision and the actual execution of a production. My job is to translate that vision into terms of budget, operations, logistics, timelines, infrastructure, suppliers, and equipment, so that everything runs efficiently from start to finish.

How difficult has it been to make your way as a woman in an industry like this where executive positions are usually led by men?

In my case, I made my way through hard work, perseverance, and confidence in my judgment. I’ve also learned that leadership doesn’t have to be seen in just one way: you can lead with firmness, strategy, and at the same time with great human sensitivity.

What skills do you consider essential when leading large-scale productions?

Today, strategic vision, the ability to anticipate, organization, and crystal-clear communication are indispensable. Composure is also essential, because in large productions everything moves simultaneously, and you have to know how to make decisions under pressure. And something that I consider key is team management: a large production isn’t carried out by a single person; it’s carried out by a well-led team.

Because the reality show “La casa de los famosos” is such a successful and closely watched format, the level of expectation is extremely high and the margin for error is very small.

One of EndemolShine Boomdog’s biggest hits is Celebrity House , what is the main challenge involved in being in charge of a reality show like this?

The biggest challenge is sustaining a massive, dynamic, and continuous operation. The reality show isn’t a project that simply turns on and off; it’s a machine that’s constantly running, where every detail counts. Furthermore, because it’s such a successful and closely watched format, the standards are incredibly high, and the margin for error is minimal. The real challenge is maintaining stability, quality, and responsiveness throughout the entire season.

Telemundo’s “La casa de los famosos” is now in its sixth season . How many people are behind a format like this, and what are the key roles?

Behind a format like this are hundreds of people; it’s practically a small city operating. More than a key role, I’d describe it as a major machine: when planning, operational coordination, and communication between departments are aligned, production flows smoothly. In this type of format, teamwork is everything!

You have over two decades of experience, how has the way of producing content changed since you started until now with the rise of streaming platforms ?

Things have changed a lot. When I started, the processes were more linear and predictable, and television had much more defined viewing times and windows. Today, you not only produce something that is watched, but it is also discussed and shared in real time, on different platforms. Streaming has raised the technical demands, the speed, and also the competition, but one thing remains the same: it all starts with a good story and impeccable execution.

The audiovisual industry is constantly changing, what trends do you think will shape the future of production?

I believe the future will be marked by more agile, efficient, and technology-driven productions. We’ll see increasingly optimized processes, a more multiplatform approach from the outset, and a more direct relationship with audiences. Artificial intelligence will play a more significant role in supporting the various stages of projects.

Speaking of trends, what’s your opinion on the recent rise of vertical content?

I think it’s a natural evolution of how a large part of the audience consumes content today. The vertical format has speed and a very interesting ability to connect immediately. I believe it adds a lot and coexists perfectly with other formats.

What projects are you currently working on?

We’re working on many exciting projects, some in development and others that we can’t announce yet. What I can say is that we continue to focus on ambitious productions, large-scale formats, and content that connects with increasingly demanding audiences. Stay tuned because I’m sure what’s coming will excite you as much as it does me. It’s a very busy time, and I personally really enjoy projects that present a significant challenge.
