New Banijay-owned production label Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic is teaming with Mexican comedy star, actor and writer Ricardo O’Farrill (“Last One Laughing Mexico”) on a new unscripted comedy series, it was announced today by the studio’s Managing Director Marie Leguizamo.

The untitled series follows a team of comedians led by O’Farrill, who is in charge of finding “solutions” to everyday problems through comedy, research and interviews with experts in a truly unique way. Joining O’Farrill in the series are fellow “Last One Laughing Mexico” (“LOL”) comedians Isabel Fernandez and Karla Camacho, as well as 23-year-old breakout Josuesy.

“We are thrilled to be teaming with Ricardo and some of the top emerging comedians in the region on this unique comedy series that will make you rethink ‘solutions’ to everyday issues,” said Leguizamo. “This is a series that we believe has the potential to become a successful format that can be produced locally on a territory-by-territory basis.”

O’Farrill is an actor, writer and one of the most renowned stand-up comedians in the Mexican marketplace. He is the first comedian in Latin America with two comedy specials on Netflix, including “Abrazo Genial” and “Abrazo Navideno.” O’Farrill participated and won Amazon Prime’s second season of hit comedy series “LOL” and he currently has two YouTube series, “Nam Nam Extravaganza” and “Neurosis Y Animo.”

Fernandez is a screenwriter, actress and stand-up comedian who appeared on the 4th season of Amazon Prime’s “LOL Mexico” She currently produces and hosts YouTube series “Cuando Nadie Me Ve” and co-hosts “Por el Placer” with Fran Hevia.

Camacho is a stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and actress who also appeared on the 4th season of Amazon Prime’s “LOL Mexico.” She currently has a national comedy tour in Mexico entitled “Siempre Traviesa” and co-hosts the YouTube series “Deberías de Pedirlo.” And Josuesy, a 23-year-old Mexican comedian and popular YouTube star.

Last month, Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic announced it had signed a deal with global superstar Becky G to produce an unscripted docu-series following emerging all-female Latin group ANGEL22. The project will be co-produced with 2WS Films and Becky G will serve as an executive producer and also appear in the untitled series.

Additionally, the studio is set to produce the next season of hit Amazon Original series “LOL: Last One Laughing” (LOL) in Mexico for Prime Video. And Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic is also creating a Latin American production hub for “LOL” that will be based in Mexico City and overseen by Leguizamo, who has served as executive producer/showrunner for the last three seasons of the Mexico edition of “LOL.”
